“We’re a nation of laws. ” Oh, really?

President Obama frequently touts that “…we’re a nation of laws…” The part of the sentence that is unspoken is “… selectively enforced, and when in our government’s interest.” If not, things get a little sketchy. As an example, you may recall that the Egyptian military staged a coup, arrested it’s democratically elected president and killed a number of protesters.Nation of laws

Under our law, we are not allowed to send any more money or military equipment to Egypt until a new legitimate civilian government replaces the old. President Obama refuses to acknowledge that a coup occurred so we can keep sending weapons. You can make an argument, that using some lopsided definition of “military coup,” that it didn’t happen. That’s the White House’s opinion and they are sticking to it.

Editor note: January 2, 2014. As of yesterday, buying and using marijuana in Colorado is legal. It is still illegal under Federal law, but federal law enforcement has been instructed not to enforce them. If, as President Obama loves to state that, “we’re a nation of laws” why not? It’s because he continually forgets to say the end of the sentence “… selectively enforced.”

Editor note: February 17, 2014. The Obama Administration announced that Colorado and other states drug (legal marijuana) dealers can now use federal banks to handle their money. So what was money laudering and against federal law, isn’t anymore. This is another example of the title of this article.

Also note the shifting sands of legal enforcement of the Obamacare law. President Obama is continuing to shift the legal goalposts so that his law can stagger forward to “success.”
