George W. Bush dishonors our vets

If you read the news, you’ll be disgusted.

President George W. Bush, the pariah former president of our nation, is making millions giving speeches. I understand that his asking rate is over $200,000 although he only made 200 paid speeches at $100,000 to $175,000 each ($20-$35 million) since 2009!

That’s between him and the companies who were stupid enough to pay him anything. That’s their business.

My disgust was that he charged a bare bones “discounted” rate of only $100,000 to speak in front of the “Helping a Hero” organization of wounded Afghanistan and Iraq veterans.

He also got $20,000 to cover a private jet to ferry him back and forth to his hideout in Texas. These are the sons and daughters of America that he put in harms way in two fruitless, lost wars who were injured and have life long problems.

I am surprised that he accepted anything to speak to these brave soldiers, let alone the organizers actually paying him.

He’ll probably donate the money to charity once the public makes its voice heard. That will only after being caught, not before. It’s as if a bankrobber offers to return the money after being caught. It won’t mean much.

I am disgusted. Our country has gone mad. Being in high office is now a way to make a fortune, not serve our nation. Just look at the phone book sized list of Republican presidential candidates. They are in it for the money.
