Some time ago I wrote about how the election process has been manipulated to favor one side or the other, so that once elected it’s almost impossible to replace an incumbent congressmen and women. You know exactly what I’m writing about.

Last night, we were watching NBC’s Nightly News, and I was shocked when this clip played. I was so surprised that when I suddenly sat up to pay attention, our cat dug in and jumped off my lap, scared for his life. My leg still has the claw marks. Ouch.

I’m very pleased that there is a Republican movement to change the Electoral College system, to one that existed before states changed the allocation of votes laws in the last century. They did it to pervert and corrupt the original intent of the Founding Fathers.

Nothing changes.

During my first campaign, a significant amount of website traffic came from the Washington, DC area. It’s possible that some bright spark read my material and co-opted it as an original idea. If I can get elected the next time, sparks will fly. I have a lot more original ideas to fix our nation’s problems.

I wrote three articles about the election process, and how states manipulate the results, not just via the Electoral College but with elections in general. Perhaps if all states move to one vote per congressional district, the way it was intended from the beginning, then we’ll have fairer elections. Imagine that!

Naturally, states with a Republican popular vote, but dominated by Democrat congressional districts will resist changing the current “winner take all” approach, and vice versa. With enough pressure they will all fall into line. If elected in 2014, I’ll apply the pressure.
