Taxpayers in Georgia’s 11th Congressional District (Bartow, Cherokee, parts of Cobb and Fulton counties) will pay $239 million for Afghanistan war spending for FY2012 Enacted. That’s nearly $600 spent by every voter in my district!

For the same amount of money, the following could be provided:

  • 32,506 Military Veterans Receiving VA Medical Care for One Year OR
  • 4,847 Police or Sheriff’s Patrol Officers for One Year OR
  • 31,745 Scholarships for University Students for One Year OR
  • 43,070 Students receiving Pell Grants of $5,550

Why is our government refusing to destroy the poppy crops in Afghanistan? We could easily pay the farmers for their crops and then destroy them. We don’t. Why? Why is our government pretending that this war is being won? Are we training the Afghan army, only to leave as fast as possible and then abandon them, like we abandoned the South Vietnamese army after we left Vietnam? Did the world come to an end, as LBJ and other politicians claimed to frighten the public?

Where were the victory parades after we left Iraq in the middle of the night? Have you been to one? Why are we still spending billions in Iraq? The Georgia’s 11th Congressional District’s share of money sent to Iraq is $21,700,000 in 2012. That would pay the salaries for over 400 new police officers each year. Would you rather send this money to Iraq, or keep it here in Georgia protecting the public?

Why doesn’t our government speak the truth? Because these “wars” are being fought based on where the oil and gas pipelines are. It’s not about freedom, it’s about business.

About 25% of African countries have civil wars. Why don’t we send our military to most of them? Dare I say that they don’t have any oil or gas pipelines? Do your own research into what countries we do have “advisers,” or the military in, and cross reference to their oil reserves, gas pipelines and other natural resources. You’ll discover the truth.

Our government depends on the laziness of the American public; that they know will not do any research and just want to be spoon fed the “truth” on the TV every night, along with the prescription drug ads so they’ll badger their doctor for them.

If elected, it will be my job to speak the truth to the American public. They won’t like what they hear. Being elected is the tricky part; speaking the truth on TV, radio and in speeches will not be.

Our sons and daughters are dying because of the energy business. If you don’t believe it, do your own research; you’ll get to the truth in a few hours.

We must end these stalemates and bring our soldiers home. Period.

Vote for me in November. I’ll tell you the unvarnished truth. You may not like it but it will be the truth, not rhetorical noise you hear from the other flag-waiving politicians.
