How to solve the gasoline and food price increase problems in one easy step

When you think about it, you’ll realize that gasoline prices and the devastating drought are interrelated. Why? Because ethanol is now 10% of almost all gasoline sold in this country. And what is it made from? Corn.

So while corn was plentiful and cheap, the corn post-production facilities (special interests) made lots of money by using our government to force the gasoline producers to mix 10% corn ethanol with 90% gasoline to make each gallon of gas sold at the pumps.

Unfortunately, the regulations will soon force that ratio to 15/85% just when the price of corn will skyrocket.

As one-third of the corn grown is used in gasoline products, and likely to increase just as corn production has dropped due to the extreme drought, not only will food prices increase, but so will gasoline as corn is a staple of both products. It’s unlikely that President Obama won’t issue a temporary relief order so that gasoline producers will not need to buy ethanol to mix with its gasoline, so what can our legislators do?

The problem with our government is that our politicians have fixed positions. They are used to working with deep-pocketed special interests. They work so closely that they are not able to be flexible and actually work for the American public. So the answer is not much.

That’s why I advocate forcing out incumbents after eight years (twelve for senators), forcing them to give leftover campaign funds to charities and to stop the use of the word “Incumbent” on ballots so the voter won’t be biased towards voting for the them.

There is a solution to this coming price crisis, and that is natural gas. Not burning natural gas like some buses do, but converting the cheap natural gas to ethanol.

In that way the gasoline and ethanol mixed use will continue, but natural gas would be used to produce it and not corn.

Will our current legislators push this through to help the public? No. But I will if elected.

Vote for me in November. I’ll tell you the unvarnished truth. You may not like it but it will be the truth, not rhetorical noise you hear from the other flag-waiving politicians.
