Why we are having a panic attack, Part One

No, the CDC graphic is not coronavirus. It’s plain old flu!

Part One

I looked at the CDC report on flu deaths and was surprised. They wrote that from October to March 2020 during FLU season, there were as many as 55 million flu cases, 730,000 hospitalizations and as many as 63,000 deaths. Contrast this with the panic of the year, coronavirus. According to the CDC, as of a few days ago, 374,000 Covid-19 cases and about 13,000 deaths so far.

So while the network news people (and almost everyone else) do almost nothing but instill fear with their 30 minutes shows, offering us 29 minutes of “…. we’re all going to die” nonsense, the actual numbers are a tiny fraction of the flu infections and deaths.

It’s a lot cheaper to report from the front line of the war, as our idiot savant president calls it, than to report other stories that require effort. I’m waiting for President Trump to appear on stage wearing a military uniform. and maybe a helmet, ready to fight and defeat the unseen coronavirus invader! That will be funny.

Anything to get reelected.

So the network news people have to be tough and stand in the deserted streets, face mask tucked under their chins, telling us about the deserted streets!  Now that’s brave, insightful reporting and much easier than reporting from flooded areas showing how brave they are by standing up to their knees in water! Wow!

The takeaway for the news nonsense is… don’t rub your eyes, pick your nose or lick your fingers. In that order. And, wash your hands.

I don’t quite understand the benefit of wearing gloves, as washing your hands would obviate the reason for general use of gloves. I doubt that the coronavirus knows enough to walk across your face and dive into your mouth looking for your lungs. So I suspect touching your face, which is normal behavior will not kill you, but putting your fingers in your mouth may, even if you have gloves on.

The takeaway… wash your hands, don’t rub your eyes, pick your nose or lick your fingers. In any order.
