Threatening the media, Washington style

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Yes, it does happen. The more senior politicians have a way of threatening the media and bringing them to heal. Here’s how it’s done…

Have you ever watched TV during a White House press conference and wondered why all of the questions are so weak? Here’s why… because if they ask hard questions they’ll have their press cards punched persona non grata. In other words, go away… you’re never coming back.

So they ask weak-minded questions, softballs that a two year old could answer.

It’s all about access.

I suspect that the day after a reporter asks awkward questions he’ll be blacklisted or quietly warned, off the record. That means the reporter’s career is at risk as he’ll be denied access and won’t be able to do his job properly. And what do you think happens when the boss realizes that the reporter can’t do his job?

If you watch NBC Nightly News, you’ll see Bill and Hillary Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea doing some occasional reports. The reason why she’s only on occasionally is that they are so bad. Yet she keeps the high paid job with NBC.

Do you wonder why? It’s to provide NBC with access to the Clintons and other political parents who want their kids on the air, make lot’s of money and become public figures as a precursor to getting into the family business – Senator or Congressman.

The most important part is becoming known. If you are, you’ll be elected no matter what your platform is… and even if you don’t have one.

It’s all about becoming a family business. Do your own research on political dynasties, presidents, governors and congress-people and you’ll see what I mean. And the public pays for everything.

Nepotism is alive and well in Washington. It has to change.
