They chant “Death to America”
They don’t mean it. They mean “Death to the American Government.”
I have always wondered why people have a mistaken belief that the United States government and the United States public are one and the same. They aren’t.
Globally, the American public is loved, but our government is despised because of its foreign policy. The root cause of all of our international problems are the policies of our State Department and White House. When we learn not to kill in the name of peace, not to overthrow foreign governments like we’re playing chess and knocking pieces off the board, and take care of our internal needs we’ll have peace.
In 2001, just after the 9/11 attacks General Wesley Clark, one of our four star generals visited the Pentagon. He later spoke about it at an event.
It was clear that our government had formulated a plan to replace many governments in the Middle East, and used 9/11 as the excuse.
Is it any wonder that the public’s of the Middle East, that suffered death and destruction from our military and CIA drones don’t like our government and will do whatever they can to damage us… leading to the sad murder of our diplomats in Libya.
We helped the Libyan rebels depose Gaddafi, even though he was taking in our CIA detainees for torture so our government could say that we don’t torture prisoners. We let the Libyans and other countries like Egypt do it for us.
Gaddafi was our friend again, until someone in Washington changed his mind and labeled him a despot that had to be deposed in favor of the rebels. And now, a percentage of the Libyans hate our government as well. We reap what we sow.
The sad thing about stirring the hornets’ nest is that we have, what the CIA calls “Blowback.” They are unexpected consequences of our actions. Yes, they’ll be arrests, trials and severe punishments. But my question will be focused on are the guilty really guilty, or just scapegoats for the Libyan government looking for our ongoing government‘s bribes aid.
So in spite of the untold trillions of dollars spent, that’s crippling our country, and the futility of trying to control the outcomes of our “regime changes,” we experience an increasing level of hostility towards our government. It’s odd that our government spokespeople appear “shocked” when we are attacked overseas. The are good actors.
The problem is that the Afghan Taliban won’t give up. Ever. In World War II, the Germans thought of the Russians as sub-humans and would be easy to defeat. The Russians had few weapons, were considered inferior, had a weak army compared to the Germans and were primitives by German standards. Guess what? The Russians won, routed the Germans at the Battles of Stalingrad and Moscow and drove into Berlin shattering the superior German Army. Why?
It’s simple. They wouldn’t give in. The Russians lost over 23 million people, 14% of their entire population, the Germans, less than 7 million (10%), Great Britain, 451,000 (1%) and the United States, 419,000 or .3%, all based on 1939 populations. The United States would have had to had almost fifty times the losses to have matched the Russians!
The Taliban won’t give in either. They have nowhere to go. They know that we do. It’s called home. The Russians learned that lesson when they retreated across the river back into Soviet territory. Unfortunately, we will as well.
I admire the bravery of our soldiers, who are fighting for their country, or perhaps its administration’s foreign policies. They deserve gratitude and every benefit when they get home from war. While I reserve the right to use the vastly overused term “hero” applied to almost everybody nowadays, diluting the value of this word for the genuine heroes, they are unbelievably brave. I salute them, one and all.
We are also using many drones to fly unhindered over sovereign countries blowing up people at will, all labeled insurgents, terrorists, rebels, al-Qaeda leaders, bad guys, evil doers or whatever the term of the day is… all classified under the phrase “…bringing to justice.”
Unfortunately, many countries are developing drones so I expect that foreign drones will be flying over our people soon, raining death from the sky. At this time, thirteen countries have armed drones flying around. You don’t hear that on the news.
It reminds me of the emergence of aircraft being used in wars to drop bombs, the first of which, in 1911, was used to drop some grenades on the Libyans. It was the beginning of death from the sky, but within a few years no one had any particular advantage.
It appears that our drone advantage will be neutralized fairly quickly, so we’ll be back to square one. That’s good for the arms industry. The next stop will be to make them completely autonomous so that when they bomb the wrong people, it will be claimed to be caused by a computer software error … so sorry and here’s $2,500 as compensation per body. Have a nice day.
All in the name of peace, access to oil and gas pipelines.
What would we do if Mexico decided to “bring to justice” Mexican cartel drug smugglers in Arizona using Mexican drones? We’d be outraged that they would dare do that, flying drones over our country. On the other hand, we’re doing it every day all over the world, and waive off any criticism as unfounded.
Will droning stop our enemies? No, it will only strengthen their resolve to attack us any way they can until we leave them alone. And attack us they will.
One day, one of them will strap on a bomb under a heavy winter coat and enter an airport terminal with 50lbs of Semtex in his carry-on roller suitcase. He’ll detonate at the scanning section and kills hundreds of passengers, and destroy that part of the airport. They don’t need to get on an airplane; that’s just a canard. The airline industry will come to an abrupt halt as passengers will be scared to just enter an airport, let alone fly. And we can’t stop it. If we setup an offsite scanning area, they’ll just detonate there.
Our enemies know that we are caught up in our own infrastructure, so when they strike it will do a lot more damage than us just droning a few people, guilty or innocent. It will be reported as “… so much for our government protecting the public.” The TSA is just smoke and mirrors and are mostly lucky, while building its empire at public expense.
We need to closely examine what we are doing overseas and seriously evaluate its value before we are financially crippled by the burgeoning expense of these regime changes. When we kill innocent people, their relatives want revenge. That may occur in one of our airports soon.
When you watch the news keep in mind that they don’t hate us, only our government and its foolish foreign policies.
Vote for me in November. I’ll tell you the unvarnished truth. You may not like it but it will be the truth, not rhetorical noise you hear from the other flag-waiving politicians.
