Social Distancing and other fallacies. Life is a risk.

First, let me state that the purpose of being a government employee is to have a job… forever. Or at least until a fat pension is available. The main job of our federal politicians is to be reelected… forever, or at least five years so that their huge federal pensions are vested which means a single election for a senator, and three elections for our congresspeople.

That said, the way it’s done is to lie to the public and give them free money and benefits at the expense of our national debt. What’s not to like?

A lot.

The latest reelect me scam is a Democrat proposal to give a family of (no more than) five, including three children $10,000 a month total, $2,000 each until the pandemic is over, backdated to March! That’s $90,000 total through November!

When will the pandemic be over? I suspect a day after November’s election. Why work when you are making nearly twice the average family income, while watching Netflix all day long? The public will vote for anyone that gives them huge amounts, of probably tax free, cash.

If you spend your limit on your credit cards, eventually you’ll be cut off and be in a horrible mess having to pay them down and suffer interest and other consequences.

Our government doesn’t care, as our Treasury just prints money.

It’s like having an unlimited credit line on your credit card, and the ability to print more money to pay the interest and never pay the principal. What’s not to like?

A lot.

Eventually the governments and investors that foolishly buy our debt will stop doing it and our ability to spend without consequence will end.

And so will the United States as the global leader and our country will fail. The Democrats will blame the Republicans, also known as “reelect me, it’s their fault” and vice versa. That’s how the game is played. And you will suffer. They won’t.

So on to the topic Social Distancing and why it doesn’t work.

Keeping away from people who may be infected is a good idea. The problem is that we don’t.

Six feet is the arbitrary number, but it doesn’t address the problem of when you walk past someone in the store, the street or even keeping away from your family in your house. The simple answer is that you don’t.

The problem is that you have no idea if a person you are about to pass has coughed, sneezed, touched something you are about to touch in a store or anywhere. And if you walk through a mist of sneeze particles, even with your mask on that only protects you from infecting other people you may become infected.

Maybe.

The only solution is for everyone in a public space to wear a mask. Standard masks protect others, so if everyone is wearing one, everyone is protected.

Today, the ones who don’t wear a standard mask, are protected by the ones who do. Think about it. If you wear a N95 mask both people are protected. If not, and you are wearing a standard mask, you are not protected, but the other person is.

You may be perfect outside of your home, but you have no idea of what the other people who live with you are doing when they’re out. Life is a risk, and this explains why home-sequestered people also contract coronavirus, lots of them.

Do you feel lucky…?

The only solution is to promote or require mask wearing outside of the home.

As our government is too compromised (stupid) to make people wear masks, I’d suggest that stores give them away and that they are emblazoned with the store’s name. If you are lucky you’ll win a prize if seen on the street wearing it. People will wear them with a logo or name on it, if they think that they may win a decent prize while advertising the store.

Some stores now require you to bring a mask to wear inside their stores. Why? No, it isn’t for your protection, it’s so they don’t get sued by you or their employees. This is America after all, land of lawsuits.

If you encourage good behavior with rewards, people will respond. If you punish them, which is what our government likes to do, it will work for a little while until people resist. And resist they will, and do already.

Note these one time masks in the photograph, obviously being used repeatedly. My article with the solution to that problem is here.

Here’s an example of what American Airlines thinks of social distancing on June 3rd, 2020 – selling middle seats at a premium!

The other problem is testing. Why? Because you may not be infected at the moment you are tested, but it doesn’t mean that you won’t become infected the next day. For some reason, people believe that being tested negative is a permanent state.

It isn’t, and an expensive waste of time unless you are feeling sick and have the dreaded symptoms. If that happens, a call to your doctor and a visit to your hospital emergency room may be a better idea than using a commercial lab that may or may not offer an accurate test. As final illustrations of the our president grasping at straws, he is now describing the coronavirus as our enemy we are at war with. His (what passes for) reasoning is to hope the public goes along with this lunacy, and as you don’t vote a president out of office during a war, he’ll keep his job in January.

Plus, blaming China for everything may redirect the anger at President Trump’s incompetence to China or so he hopes. And if he keeps his job, his children may not be indicted in New York State. Maybe.

Few voters check the facts, so a lie repeated often enough becomes the truth. Sad but true.

Fortunately for our president, Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic party nominee also seems to be “lost in space.” That makes the two main contenders, with similar mental problems, candidates for the presidency. How is this possible? Very large amounts of money and only in America!

Anything to get reelected.

We shall see. In the meantime, watch this –
