So, why does TSA allow knives in U.S. airport terminals and on airplanes?
I’m not writing about the plastic knives used in airport restaurants but steel knives!
After 9/11 I joined the FBI InfraGard group, infragard.fbi.gov, as I was a network computer expert and wanted to help by watching for suspicious activity that could threaten our country. I found it to be mostly a bureaucracy and ultimately left. However, I kept my eyes open and this led to my seeing sharp metal knives in U.S. airports, not outside of TSA but inside the terminals!
In December 2025, I was in the Miami airport and first noticed passengers with knives,,, and was shocked. This was not before the TSA checkpoints, but after… inside of the terminal. I contacted TSA in Washington and received a call back from a lady… she was “shocked.” So I thought that the problem would be investigated and resolved, but haven’t stopped at that airport since then, so do not know.
But when I was in the Atlanta Hartsfield airport last month, what did I see… ? Knives inside of the terminal, again not the plastic ones, but nice sharp metal knives! So passengers could take them onto airplanes, since they were already “checked” by TSA and who knows what one or a group of these passengers will do!
I wrote to the NY TImes and the Washington Post on their tip lines, but was met by silence. Perhaps, since nothing had happened yet, there wasn’t a story.
Does anyone know why TSA allows this? Are they looking for another 9/11, perhaps a 11/9 to increase their funding?
This has to stop!
