Lies of our fathers
Like you, I saw plenty of news coverage of the Republican convention in Tampa, but I won’t be writing about that other than to say that Romney’s selection of Ryan as Vice President was a major error. No, I’m writing about the SEAL team member who just wrote a book, “No Easy Day” so he could make a lot of money. He’ll get to keep it, as the book profits will go to a trust, controlled by him but not to him directly. In that way, he’ll avoid his Navy agreement not to profit from his actions as a SEAL team member.
While making a lot of money is the American way, I’m concerned about the big discrepancies of the actual killing of Osama bin Laden and the likely never-ending lies from the White House. Having known one SEAL team member when I lived in San Diego, a very brave man who operated in Vietnam, I’m confident that they keep track of exactly what happens during an operation and truthfully debrief afterwards. I say truthfully, as all of the SEALs reports are correlated so discrepancies are easy to spot. Not so with the White House. “This is what happened, because we say so.”
So what does this mean? The chances are, as we haven’t heard that the book writer’s account is inaccurate, is that the Obama administration lied. What a surprise! Why would they do that? And what other “facts” are lies, and how many unreleased photographs shown to a few are Photoshop’d?
I suspect that lying to the American public is at the very core of their agenda. Four more years? Please say no.
Lie to me once, shame on you. Lie to me repeatedly, shame on me. Are we ashamed?
Vote for me in November. I’ll tell you the unvarnished truth. You may not like it but it will be the truth, not rhetorical noise you hear from the other flag-waiving politicians.
