Why do they run for president?

In two words. .. vanity and money. Are you shocked? The Republican Party seems to attracting almost anyone who dreams that they have the slightest chance of winning the primary and then defeating Mrs. Clinton in the general election.

A few actually think that they’ll win, so are working hard at attracting money. That’s far more important than votes at this time, if not all the time. The rest are playing for the purposes of…

1.     Attracting money to their PACs. It won’t be returned by the candidates after they lose, so will be used to influence other elections. In essence, donors will be providing a war chest for future election cycles at the whim of the “candidates.”

2.     They want TV and radio shows; they want to make high paid speeches afterwards and (ghost) write best selling books paying big bucks. What better way than to have “presidential candidate” on your resume?

3.     They want to get on a big company’s board of directors. Why? So they can make a nice annuity income in addition to their very nice federal congressional pensions, plus the perks.

4.     They, with the notable exception of Marco Rubio, want to enhance their congressional careers or set the stage for another government job and not do their paid jobs as congresspeople (or governors) or whatever while running.

Just imagine… you can announce that you don’t want to do your day job for a long time while trying to get another and still get paid.

If you don’t get to be president, then you go back to the old job and all while being paid for not doing it! That’s our congress and state governments in action.

Senator Rubio foolishly chose to run co-incident with the expiration of his six-year Senate term so he will lose that job and the primary.

Rand Paul had the same problem but he managed to have the Kentucky primary changed from a Republican primary to a caucus, so he could avoid the awkward problem of running for two offices on the same ballot. It’s not allowed.

I can add many more “whys” and I’m sure so can you. It’s sad that it’s a free for all, as I think that Mrs. Clinton will win anyway.

As you probably heard, Mrs. Clinton operated from her home mail server. If she had a Microsoft Exchange Server installed at her house, I don’t even think that anyone will bother to look for the deleted emails in the Journaling feature that keeps everything in spite of manual deletions. The media will give her a pass, most likely as she’s a Democrat and the press are supplicants.

In any instance Mrs. Clinton will regret it, as the 2018-19 financial collapse, in which you’ll likely lose your job, will be blamed on her. Herbert Hoover got the blame for the Great Depression. Mrs. Clinton will be blamed for this one.
