If you want to know what and why things are happening in the Middle East, a region that was relatively stable until this century look to the flow of energy, oil and natural gas. If you overlay maps of the pipelines and oil producing areas, you’ll see a pattern that will make you in the top 1% of the smartest people in America.

The Leviathan natural gas fields are a huge find made in 2010 off of the coast of Israel and Lebanon. Israel and Lebanon as squabbling over who owns them. You know who’ll win that one.

If you look at the established pipelines you’ll see that some of these pipelines go through countries that are in turmoil, notably Syria and Greece.

A key need in the development of a gas field, is the ability to pump the gas through pipelines, in this instance, to Europe. At the moment the Russians have been the major supplier. Gazprom, the Russian gas vendor has been cutting gas supplies to Europe for political reasons. European countries have not been happy.

Greece will soon (after our November election, as it will be very bad for the global stock markets) be booted from the Euro as the International Monetary Fund and the euro-area Member States  have persuaded the Greek government to privatize 28 of the Greek owned businesses, including DEPA the Greek energy company.

The DEPA privatization was crucial to allow private energy companies additional control over the European public. The Greek people are very unhappy at the loss of key Greek businesses to foreign companies.

No, you don’t hear about this in our nightly network news broadcasts. They are more interested in entertainment stories and helping to sell prescriptions than the news.

Take a look at the pipeline maps, and you’ll soon be able to predict the news before it happens.

And so it goes.
